Smart Communications Inc. to use OceanLake’s MobileMail Platform: Affordable MobileMail in the Philippines

Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Singapore – January 25, 2008 – OceanLake Commerce Inc. (OLI-TSX Venture, OLIKF.PK) announced today that it has entered into a managed services agreement with Smart Communications, Inc. (Philippines). SMART will be using the OceanLake MobileMail service platform to launch MobileMail as a value added service to their subscribers.

With over two billion mobile subscribers worldwide and over one billion email addresses, the opportunity for mobile email is significant. Today, less than ten percent of mobile users access email on their phones. The primary barriers are the high cost of smart phones, the cost of the data plans required and the complexity of the solutions being offered. OceanLake MobileMail allows service providers to provide their users the ability to send and receive e-mail with any internet-enabled mobile phone or PDA at a fraction of the cost of other solutions in the market place.

“We are very excited to be supporting SMART in making available affordable mobile email to its over 27 million mobile subscribers in the Philippines”, stated William Car, President and CEO of OceanLake. “With nothing to install on the device and simple configuration, MobileMail will work on any phone that supports text messaging and a mobile browser.”

OceanLake MobileMail polls the user configured email accounts and sends a notification via text message to the user’s phone if there is an e-mail waiting. In that text message is a link that if opened will automatically launch the browser on the phone and take the user to their inbox. The user can then choose to open the message in their phone to view it. Reply and forward can also be done from the phone itself. MobileMail also provides calendaring and address book functionality to ensure users have all of their information on the go. Calendar events can also have reminders configured so that the user receives a text message with event details ensuring that nothing is forgotten or missed.

“Our partnership with OceanLake is part of our thrust to provide our subscribers with the widest array of services. The OceanLake MobileMail will give our users the convenience of accessing their e-mails and responding to urgent messages anytime, anywhere,” said Napoleon L. Nazareno, president and CEO at SMART. “With the text alert notification of new emails, the ability to view the entire message including attachments, reply and forward, we are offering a fully featured mobile email solution that is truly affordable.”

OceanLake’s Asia Pacific headquarters are in Singapore and will be providing local implementation and support services for SMART.
