OceanLake Executes Letter of Intent for “meemo” within the United Kingdom
Affordable Mobile Email Expands to Europe
Toronto and Singapore – September 26, 2007 – OceanLake Commerce Inc. (OLI-TSX-V, OLIKF.PK) today announced that it has executed a letter of intent on September 24, 2007 (“Agreement”) granting Tony J. Rinomato the license to offer OceanLake’s meemo service direct to consumers in the United Kingdom. Mr. Rinomato will undertake the responsibility for marketing and promoting the service, which will be hosted and operated by OceanLake. This letter of intent underscores OceanLake’s growth strategy to take its platforms and services global through strategic partnerships. By leveraging the relationships of partners in various regions, OceanLake is accelerating its ability to move into new markets quickly.
OceanLake has received a significant portion of the overall license fees with the execution of the letter of intent. The remaining fees will be paid according to timetables set forth in the Agreement. OceanLake will receive royalty payments on the gross subscription revenue of UK-based meemo subscribers in addition to recurring monthly support and maintenance service fees.
"With over 2 billion mobile subscribers worldwide and 1.5 billion email accounts, the opportunity for meemo globally is significant. meemo is the first commercial mobile email solution that provides a true push email experience with nothing to download to the phone and a simple setup," stated William Car, President and CEO of OceanLake. "Anyone in the UK with a mobile phone that supports text messaging and mobile browsing will be able to use meemo."
meemo is a truly affordable, push email service that works on regular phones at a fraction of the cost of other solutions in the marketplace. Built on OceanLake’s MobileMail platform, meemo continuously checks configured email accounts for new messages. When a new message is available a text message is sent directly to the phone indicating the message sender and subject. Embedded in that text message is a link that when opened automatically launches the browser on the phone and takes the user directly to their inbox. The user can view the entire message within their inbox including attachments such as images, Adobe PDF and Microsoft Office documents. Emails can be sent, replied to or forwarded from the phone, all while on the go.
“The UK market is ideally suited for what meemo has to offer. UK mobile users are very advanced consumers of text messaging and mobile browsing which means zero learning curve to take advantage of the unique capabilities of meemo,” said Tony Rinomato. “Until meemo, getting email to your phone was a costly experience requiring expensive PDA’s or smartphones. meemo delivers a cost effective solution the mass market will enjoy on their current phones and we are delighted to work with OceanLake to bring it to the UK market.”
meemo is available in the United States and Canada and will launch in Taiwan by the end of the year. The formal agreement with Mr. Rinomato will be completed shortly and timing for the commercial launch of the service in the UK is to be announced.
